TYPOGRAPHY

by Youtube user Toastage

Animation: Z Wang
Music: 'First Breath After Coma' by Explosions in the Sky

Graphic City is a pure typography animation which involved with the exploration of
typography and also the personal feeling of the modern cities. The initial idea came
form the continuously observation of the city/cities around me and our life. I lived
around the Canary Wharf area in London for two years, the pression of the night
time of the area inspired me to find out the connections of the light and empty
buildings with type. The idea of using only type to build up the city is inspired by the
Braille, cause what I think is for those blind people, what they can see of the city are
ot the actual figures, shapes and colours, but what's in their head is only the feeling
f touching the Braille.

Alex Chiu - The seven deadly sins - I dont know if he will ever end this project but so far it looks good and I think its a wicked idea and I really like his clever execution!

Usage of the word Fuck

Röyksopp - Remind me

A day in the life of an average working Jill, broken down into the small parts, hours, minutes.
Its about mankind. How we are developing all these systems just so we can sit in our cubicle . Where is the experience of LIFE?!

This Video is of John Davison - Creative Director of Kanoti, speaking about projects. I thought it was interesting and I want to know more about the work of Kanoti.

Intruiging and individual but simply showing the human beings of our time.

Decent Website!!

I want to show off my work in a similar way Jonas is doing on his website.

Jane Asplund

I enjoy some of her work as her illustrations, made from pencil and watercolour, are fantasy and "dreamy". I like illustrations where your mind wanders.

Stefan Eriksson, illustrator

Stefan Eriksson is a Swedish Illustrator and I like some of his work as it can be dark and sarcastic.

In September next year the Natural History Museum in London is opening their new Darwin Centre which will hold 5.2 million specimen and lots more! The trailer for the new Darwin Centre looks well done too, chek it out by clicking on the link above. I like how it is all linked together and makes sense.

Wallace and Gromit as photomodels!

I love Wallace and Gromit and just came across this work for Harvey Nichols, pretty good idea if you ask me! But where is the Wensleydale cheese?

100% Design Portfolio

With plenty of examples from across the globe, 100% Design Portfolio is an endless source of inspiration.
From the elegant, to the playful; the traditional, to the experimental; printed portfolios, to electronic – no variety of the form is lacking.

Save the Children

This was shown on TV in Sweden a couple of years ago and I have never forgotten it, I think it is such a powerful message with the bullets in the blackboard.

Jeff Wall

Photographer from Canada, first time I saw his work was in San Fransisco 2007. It struck me straight away that this guys is a true artist. His setups make you think and his contemporary style is very interesting.

Musée des arts decoratif

http://www.lesartsdecoratifs.fr/index.html

Here we go! Three museums in one! Paris of course. We got one which is reconstructed rooms in Art Nouveau style, then the advertising museum (sounds pretty good!) and finally the fashion and textiles museum. I want to go!

Falu Copper Mine Museum

The museum is set underground in the old copper mine. It is an amazing trip to go down there and it makes you realize what hard work it must have been for the people who spent most of their days down there. Its dirty and cold, wet and dark. It made me admire the hard work behind Swedens economy.

From 1973, this film is based on the 1967 book of the same title. It is showing how the every day life is influenced so strongly by economic forces and the mass media.

Architecture in China

Beijing Botanical Gardens international flora exhibition, with olympic theme.

I came over some pictures of the old gardens in Shozu, China.

Johan Egerkrans

i really like the horse "backahasten" - it's so proud and I like the watercolours - it reminds me a lot about John Bauers work.
And the Elk one is just cute!

Johan Egerkrans

I like his style with the dark and powerful colours, they set a certain mood and are adventurous.

Roald Dahl

www.roalddahl.com

The witches and Matilda, what stories! And dont forget the illustrations. Though not my favourite style I still enjoy his simpleness and colourful drawings.

Elsa Beskow

Swedish illustrator, worked with children's books. When I grew up all my favourite books were illustrated by Elsa Beskow and I think that is why I love her work so much.

John Bauer

Amazing illustrator from Bayern who came to Sweden as a 13 year old. His drawings are inspired by the sagas of old Swedish tales with trolls and dragons and elves. As the dreamer I am I really enjoy them and they take me to another world full of life and great creatures.
